Where Learning and Caring Go Hand-in-Hand
ARCHway is a 12-month residential educational program operating 365 days per year. We serve students between the ages of 10 and 22 both male and female. Our enrollment capacity is 13 residential students.
Educational Services:
The school day is divided between 4 main areas (English language arts, math and science, motor activities and functional living). Within these areas all the strands of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks are taught (social skills, reading, writing, math, science, technology, history, social science, health, and leisure and arts). Occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy are established for each individual as deemed necessary and appropriate through the IEP team.
Residential Services:
The residential program focuses on engagement in activities of daily living, functional living skills, and social/recreational experience both at ARCHway and in the community. There is a strong commitment to health and fitness as shown through daily walks and exercise programs. These activities also help in fostering improved self-control.
Behavioral Treatment:
Behavioral treatment is a priority concern both in school and in the residential programs. Most students are at ARCHway due to complex behavioral challenges that severely impact their abilities to function and learn within typical family or community settings. Both the school and the residence provide daily routines designed to be challenging but not threatening, routine but not stagnant. As the student’s toleration for learning improves more demands and complexity are added to maximize growth.
